2022 Allett Year Review- The Highlights

2022 Allett Year Review- The Highlights

We have had another fabulous year at Allett with a number of highlights;

Stirling Launch - Powered By The 56v Ego Battery

We launched our Stirling in November 2021 and the start of spring saw our predicted orders for 2022 treble. The USA market was a huge one for us with the lovely larger gardens requiring a wider cutting width. Our Australian dealer AdeTurf have had great success with the Stirling and it's been great to see the content coming in from our Australian customers whilst there is snow and ice on our lawns here in the UK. We have now manufactured our 1000th Stirling order in our first year of production.

2022 Allett Creative Stripes Competition- Winner Ed Aitken

We had another amazing year of entries from all around the world. This year's competition was won by Ed Aitken from Oxfordshire. Ed has entered for the past few years and always ranked in the top 5 so it was great to finally see him crowned as our champion. We would like to say thanks to our 2021 Champion Dennis West for judging this years competition- always a difficult task! Ed won himself an Allett Liberty 43 with ALL the cartridges and two cartridge stands. Ed has taken up our offer to be our 2023 judge. You can see this years TOP 6 here.

Queen's Jubilee Mower- Duke of Edinburgh Living Legacy Fund

This mower was a special one-off Jubilee Edition Allett Stirling 51 (20”) battery cylinder mower commemorating the Queen’s 70 years on the throne. The online auction attracted bidders from all around the world, including entries from the USA, Canada and Switzerland. The winning bid came from Ron Henry of Georgia, USA who bid the substantial sum of £4,400.00. “We’re very proud to be able to run this auction with the proceeds going to the DofE Award fund,” said Allett’s Managing Director, Austin Jarrett. “The DofE Award is something we at Allett are very passionate about and we are pleased to have the opportunity to help young people in this way.” We were all very sad at Allett to hear of the Queen's passing later this year. Windsor Flower Show (June 2022)

We attended the 115th Royal Windsor Flower Show this June and were proud to show off the Jubilee Mower. It was fabulous to meet so many customers at the show who were able to get their hands on the Allett Stirling and cut some grass. We also had Alan Titchmarsh and The Countess of Wessex visit our stand to check out our British made mowers. Find our blog here

Gardeners World Live Show, NEC

June saw us attend the Gardeners World Live Show at the NEC for the first time. This was a great opportunity for us to meet our homeowner customers face to face and show off our range of homeowner cylinder mowers. Our stand was nicely positioned by the theatre which held talks with various guests such as Monty Don, Alan Titchmarsh and Frances Tophill. The Stirling received plenty of interest and customers were able to try their hand at changing a cartridge over in less than 10 seconds.

Mk1 Homecoming Event

November saw us host our Mk1 homecoming. This was our first ever production Allett mower that was manufactured in 1966 by the Allett family- serial number 66001. We would like to say thankyou to the Magee family for kindly donating the mower back to us and not sending it to scrap! Over the summer of 2022 we had the mower restored by Geoff Ravenhall and it now proudly sits in our reception. This mower holds so much history of ours and Geoff has done an amazing job. It was the first ever production mower made by Reg Allett and his son Roy (who was just a lad in those days). It was great to have Dave and Roy Allett at our event - son's of Allett founder Reg. Dave still plays a huge part in the Allett business as our Export manager and Roy is the man of all knowledge when we get questions on past machines. Find our blog here

Grooved Roller Launch

November saw us launch our grooved front roller for the 17'' and 20'' models. Our customers have been waiting a long time for this and we are now happy to say it is available to purchase from your local Allett dealer or online via the Allett website. When you are using a cylinder mower you are a perfectionist- this grooved roller will help you achieve the most perfect cut without any stragglers. As you can see our engineer's have done a great job!

Launch of Allett Australia and the Allett Germany website

We launched our Allett Australia and Allett Germany e-commerce sites this year following on from the launch of the Allett USA site. This allows us to produce content in different languages and customers to buy direct off the website. Both Allett Australia (AdeTurf) and Allett Germany (Wassenberg) have had great success this year following on from the launch of the new sites.

Saltex 2022

Once again we exhibited at Saltex this year continuing our history of attending the show once again held at the NEC in Birmingham. A wide range of our battery powered mowers were on show including the Allett Uplift 86E rotary mower, C34E cylinder mower, C27E cylinder mower, Allett Tournament and the new Allett Stirling launched last year. The stand was a hive of activity with customers, dealers and suppliers visiting us from all around the world. There was plenty of interest in the NEW Allett Stirling which has been a huge success globally over the past 12 months and is powered by a 56v 5Ah Ego battery with a 7.5Ah, 10Ah and 12Ah available for those with larger lawns.

Austin's 'For The Rangers Ultra Marathon' in Kenya

Austin would like to say a massive THANKYOU to all those that kindly donated to his Kenya run a 230km ultra-marathon across the hot plains of Africa. The run was to raise money for the rangers risking their lives to help save the rhinos from poachers. Austin and his wife Dawn put themselves through torture to get through the race with Austin battling dehydration! Find his Just Giving Page here.

Qatar World Cup

We had a number of machines used at the Qatar World Cup which was won by Argentina in the end- a great story for Lionel Messi and Michael Taylor in Accounts who won the Allett sweepstake!

Price Increase

Unfortunately as you will be aware we have been met with ever increasing energy, transport and production costs over the last few months which will affect us as a small business going forward. This leaves us with no option but to increase our prices to account for this. Every effort has been made to keep these rises to a minimum however we do hope that you understand us having to make these changes in order to keep our standards high and keep manufacturing high quality cylinder mowers in Britain. Order before January 1st for 2022 prices.

Christmas Shutdown

We will be closing on 21st December 2022 and reopening on January 3rd 2023.

We would like to wish all our staff, dealers and customers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We are looking forward to seeing you all in 2023.
