Allett 10 Blade Cartridge

Allett homeowner cartridge machines already come with the 6 blade cartridge fitted as standard. This is a perfect cartridge for most lawns however at lower heights of cut the standard 6 blade cartridge will not be fine enough to achieve the results you want. We manufacture a 10 blade cartridge which gives a much more luxurious cut. Made of hardened and ground steel the 10 bladed cylinder offers a super fine cut, which is sharp and clean. Cylinder type mowers use a revolving cylinder made of several spiral blades. When these meet with the bottom blade as the cylinder rotates, it imitates a scissor-like cutting action which leaves the end of the blades of grass sharp and level. Allett Scarifier Cartridge

This is arguably our most popular cartridge and is designed to remove thatch, surface debris and dead moss. Thatch is a layer of dead material that builds up under the surface and stops air, nutrients and water reaching the grass roots. This cartridge also helps lift lateral growth upright before mowing and can be used little and often all year round to keep on top of thatch levels. The scarifier has a custom design helps to keep your lawn surface healthy and disease-free, by allowing air and water to penetrate the soil surface. The machine is designed with rotating tines that pull out the dead grass and moss to enable the passage of nutrients into the soil, with ease. The rotating spring tines are relatively gentle on the lawn and this cartridge can be used most of the year without fear of damage to keep on top of thatch levels aswell as being useful to collect up leaves during the autumn. The use of the spring tine allows for safe cultivation where tree roots may be close to the surface. This is the best cartridge for beginners to turf cultivation as it is unlikely to cause damage if set too deeply but will give great results if used regularly. Allett Verticut Cartridge

The Verticutter cartridge is a popular cartridge in the Allett range. Thin and closely spaced blades effectively lift lateral growth and remove moss which helps encourage tillering and new growth. The blades of the Verticut cartridge reach down into the thatch without damaging the healthy grass, which brings the dead layer to the surface to be collected and removed. Air is introduced into the sward to help break down the organic matter. As the name suggests, the Verticut cartridge penetrates the soil vertically, ensuring to remove as little healthy grass as possible. The use of a larger number of thinner blades achieves the least damage possible whilst ensuring excess thatch is removed. Some broadleaf and grass weeds are discouraged by the closing cutting action of this cartridge. Verticutting can be carried out on a more frequent basis, and is the perfect way to keep on top of your thatch level in between your yearly scarification. A small amount of thatch can be healthy for your lawn, but anything over half an inch needs to be removed as it prevents the healthy growth process. Allett Dethatcher Cartridge

Boasting wider spaced, thicker tines the Dethatcher is the most aggressive cartridge and penetrates the soil to a maximum depth of 6mm. For lawns in serious disarray, the Dethatcher removes the densest layers of thatch effectively. The machine works by rigorously penetrating the soil’s surface in order to pick up and remove layers of thatch such as dead grass and leaves, plant stolons and weed growth. Lawns grow healthier, thicker and more luscious once this has been removed as it its less susceptible to disease. Lawns that are more susceptible to disease encourage moss growth which should be avoided. Removal of excessive thatch and moss enables more water, air and nutrients to absorb into the soil to be provided to the grass root, and should be carried out at least once a year in late Spring or Autumn only when moisture is available for the lawn to recover. Allett Aerator Cartridge

The ‘non-driven’ Aerator cartridge permeates the soil with small holes which allows air, water and nutrients to pass through more easily to the grass roots. This is beneficial as this helps the roots grow more deeply, meaning a healthier, thicker and more luscious lawn. The Aerator also removes soil compaction and helps water move into the soil profile. Soil that is compacted has too many solid particles, which can prevent the soil from absorbing what it needs to flourish. Aerating your lawn stops the roots from being starved as there is nothing blocking that process. If your lawn dries out easily then it could be crying out for aeration. If you remove a small slice of your lawn about 4 inches deep, and there’s a layer of thatch taller than half an inch, it’s time to give it some breathing space. Allett Brush Cartridge

The lawn brush cartridge is used for collecting light debris, putting a stripe in a dry lawn without mowing and incorporating a light top dressing into the sward. The brush is perfect for collecting ‘worm casts‘ that are left by earthworms that live in the root zone of the soil.This accessory effectively disperses and removes these worm casts and other debris such as fallen leaves, twigs, grass clippings or litter and deposits it into the grass box. It’s also great for removing dew from the lawn that can cause fungal diseases. Make sure to set the brush height correctly in relation to the height of your lawn, so that the optimal amount of debris is picked up. Ideally, the brush should sit approximately half an inch below the top of the grass. This should be carried out as regularly as possible to reduce the amount of debris spoiling your lawn.
